What you can do:Publicity stuntsThese are events that are designed to get media attention. You don't have to dress as bat man and scale the queen's balcony, but finding a way to visually portray the campaign can be effective. One successful Canadian health campaign, the Ontario Health Coalition, used a huge Trojan Horse to explain the insidious nature of the policy they were campaigning against. This produced media coverage in every region that it appeared. The more original, the more likely you will be to get attention. These events will only work if you make sure the media know what you are planning. It can be easier if you are providing something for the media to film or record on a day when you know they will be covering your issue. eg before a key health vote in Parliament. |
